Only you can change your life and the real key to achieving your goals and experiencing happiness in life is believing that Change is indeed possible. But just wanting Change is not enough to guarantee more success and results. You must want it with all your heart. There must be a real need for that change. There’s no point in pursuing a new job or trying to make more money if it doesn’t bring you more happiness and fulfillment in life! You need to make sure your efforts towards desired changes will help make your life better in a bigger and more meaningful way.
Let’s look at some important steps you can take to change your life for the better–
1. Clearly identify what you don’t want in your life.
Look at your life and results honestly. Make a list of all the things that are making your life more difficult or less enjoyable and satisfying. By doing this you will start getting more clearer about what you do want to have and experience. You will start thinking about the changes you need to make and the new habits you need to adopt to create the results you desire.
2. List down one by one all the changes you need to make.
Now that you are clear on what you want and don’t want in your life, you will have a clear understanding of how to change your life to create your ideal experience.
These changes might include getting more financially independent, starting a new business, enrolling for a course, moving to another location, saying yes to an offer etc. Or they may be as simple as feeling less stressed, getting enough sleep, making new friends, waking up early, getting physically more active and so on.
Whatever changes you identify as necessary, list them down one by one. Contemplate on them seriously and commit to take whatever action is necessary to incorporate them into your daily life.
3. Overcome the negative voices inside your head
While you work towards your goals and push yourself towards living your dream life, you are bound to hear counter intentions and limiting voices from within you. These are voices of your subconscious mind, also known as your inner child. This part of you called the subconscious continues to replay the past and may still be stuck with failures and disappointments. It is afraid of change and hence continues to make you feel uncomfortable and fearful of any change you wish to bring about. It may be trying to protect you, but ultimately it will only end up holding you back from creating your most desired life. Don’t listen to it!
Start feeding yourself positive thoughts daily that encourage you to believe in yourself and drive you to do everything with positive expectations. Take Action on the changes required with faith and Joy, reminding yourself that your thoughts and feelings are the key to your success. As you start developing a more positive attitude, your old thoughts of lack and doubt will be replaced with new thoughts of abundance and faith. You will get more confident and successful in everything you do.
4. Chalk out a Plan.
The best way to achieve significant changes is to start small and make small steady progress that moves you in the right direction. No matter how big your goal or dream is, you got to chalk out a clear plan and know that it’s okay to take one step at a time rather than feeling overwhelmed about doing it all at once. You don’t have to create all the big changes in a single day! Real and lasting change takes time and you must be patient with yourself and with the results you get.
Start with making a list of small but doable activities that move you closer to the life you want to live. These could be actions that can be taken daily. This way you will ensure that you are constantly staying connected with the desired changes and also being disciplined in your approach to work things out for yourself. Every time you take action, you impress your subconscious mind with the feeling that you are already expecting the results you desire.
5. Keep Learning and Growing
Life is a journey, not a destination and Knowledge is Power. The best way to make the most of this journey is to always keep a learners attitude and to continue learning and growing your knowledge and expertise. The more you learn, the more you gain experience with practically applying your knowledge. The more you gain experience, the more confident you become in your own abilities, opinions and judgments. Learning and taking mindful action will allow you to keep bettering results and gaining significant improvements in different areas of your life.
