It’s quite common for us to feel we stuck once in a while. We feel like we have tried really hard to make progress, been disciplined in adopting some new practices, even just started to feel better and notice some positive changes in our life. Then all of a sudden, something happens and leaves us very disappointed and dejected. Nothing seems to be working anymore. We feel frustration as if all our efforts have gone in vain. We don’t feel like doing anything anymore.
Although you are mentally and physically exhausted and your spirit is low, this is not the time to give up. Be patient. There’s a story of a man who prayed to God when he was desperate for help, he fell asleep and God appeared in his dream and said, “This will pass, but you got to stay calm and believe, then you will succeed.” A month later the man received a good news and was extremely overjoyed upon his success. That night, he prayed to God to thank him again and he got another dream where God smiled and said to him, “This will pass, but if you stay calm, you will ultimately succeed”.
The biggest lesson this story teaches us is to realize that things always change, that nothing ever is constant in life. We will face failures and success at different points in our lives. But the key is to avoid getting too affected by either of them. Treat everything with a balanced mind. Judge yourself less and treat each experience with calmness and faith.
During difficult times, we must not immediately panic and think something is going to go wrong. We must affirm for good things to happen. Similarly even in good times, we must continue to self-reflect and look to keep improving ourselves.
Here are some ways we can do that –
1. Observe the state of your own Mind
Take a look at what’s happening in your life and what exactly is going on in your mind relating to it. If there are a lot of changes, uncertainties, things or people that are causing emotional challenges, these can be harmful to your state of mind. They will keep you restless and chaotic, affecting your ability to manage and do things.
Ask yourself if there’s something you can do to remove or minimize these distractions and challenges. Note down whatever comes to your mind. Make this list daily so you can stay more focused and clear in the day. Choosing wisely how to spend your time and where to spend your time and energy can positively impact your mental state and wellbeing.
2. Learn from others
Read books and biographies of great saints, gurus, leaders and other successful people. You will come to understand how most of them achieved their life purpose with their clarity of thought, determination and self-belief. They started from humble beginnings and went through many tough situations, but they never gave up. They kept on going and ultimately became highly successful and inspirational in their respective fields.
To keep yourself inspired, being part of a group of like-minded people can be very helpful. Today you have support groups and even online platforms to hear, learn and interact with other people around the world. Surrounding yourself with such positivity and inspiration can be very uplifting for your soul and teach you how to handle challenges and maintain a more balanced state of mind.
3. Engage in Selfless service
Selfless service must be an integral part of your life. There is nothing that can replace the sweetness that it can bring to your heart and life. Doing things for others without the expectation of a reward is a great way to open your heart and allow qualities of love, peace, compassion and kindness to flow into your energy and vibration.
Serving others can help you see yourself in a whole new light and perspective. Infact it can recharge and inspire you to always look at the bright and positive side of life and live your life with more gratitude and appreciation. Devote atleast one or two days in a month to selfless service and volunteering activities to help the needy. You won’t regret you did!
4. Try your best, then leave the rest to the Universe
Whatever work or tasks you do in the day, be mindful to do them with a smile on your face. If you complain or grumble while performing your tasks, they will never bring you peace of mind or joy. Life should be fun and joyful and your attitude can really make it so. This whole universe was created to spread beauty and sweetness in life.
Spend each day to the best of your ability. Yes, there will always be a better way to do things. But at the end of the day, remind yourself, You have done what you could. If some mistakes happened, forgive yourself. Tell yourself, “Tomorrow is a new day, I Commit to begin the new day with peace and joy, I seek guidance from the universe to make it a successful and happy day for me and my loved ones.” This will allow you to spend your days with more enthusiasm and focus. You will feel better and end up being more productive and successful.
