Have you ever been stuck in traffic on the road? Most likely you have at some point. And you probably looked around at other people and observed the frustration on their faces too. You may have even seen some people yelling and gesturing helplessly to the road ahead of them. Others may have been complaining to the ones next to them. Almost everyone at such times would be trying to strain their necks to try and see what is causing the jam, feeling helpless about not being able to find their way out and may be hoping someone would come and clear out the mess.
It’s the perfect metaphor for life, isn’t it? We are all on the journey towards our goals and dreams. There are times when we seem to hit a major traffic or roadblock and things don’t seem to be moving forward for us in our lives. Sometimes we even know what’s causing the trouble and delay such as our past beliefs and experiences but many other times we are totally clueless. Either way, it can be very frustrating and disappointing to feel stuck. After all we all want to get to our destination (our goals) as quickly as we can.
Assume Responsibility for your own life
When you find yourself in a situation that is making you feel trapped, powerless and angry, remind yourself, we always have the ability to make Choices. These choices can better our lives and bring us our desired life faster. We can of course, scream, blame and cry in anger which will do nothing to get you closer to your dreams instead it will make the journey even more difficult. Or you can make the choice to sit back and wait for things (economy, government, laws, job situation etc) to get better on their own but this could mean waiting for ever, because we don’t know when these things will get better and we are never in control of it.
There is also a third choice you can make- You can make that time work for you by you working on yourself – By combining FAITH and ACTION in a way that accelerates your progress towards your goal.
Follow these practices to get unstuck from the traffic jams of lack and doubt and get ready to live your best life!
1. Define your Purpose Clearly
Delays can often lead to disappointments. Tough and challenging times come with their share of doubts -you may start to question whether you should continue to pursue your dream or give up midway. If you find yourself ever lacking motivation, connect with your Vision for your future. Where do you want to go? Why do you want to get there? How will it impact your life? What does that goal and dream mean to you and your loved ones?
Holding on to the vision and images of your desired life will strongly connect you with the positive energy of those goals and dreams. You will reignite your passion and enthusiasm. Your brain will get busy to form stronger pictures to match the positive energy you are feeling. It will start to become more aware and alert to bring you closer to opportunities that could support you to reach your destination (goals). You will start to feel more confident about your purpose and dream. The positivity generated in your mind and heart will enable you to get a stronger hold over your emotions and to achieve your goals successfully and joyfully.
2. Let Success be the only Option
Do not entertain at all the possibility of failures. If you think of reasons why you can fail, you will find plenty of them. These reasons will further worsen your fear and weaken your ability to think clearly or act appropriately. Instead in times you feel overwhelmed or worried, think of the end result you desire. Feel that you have already got there. Think of all the reasons that helped you to get there. Imagine how everything turned out in your favor.
When you think in reverse in this manner, starting from feeling grateful that it has worked out to thinking about what all helped you to achieve this success- you start reprogramming your mind from doubt and fear to Confidence and Faith. If you repeat this practice and mind game often, you will certainly come out of the traffic of uncertainty that is clouding your mind. You will reach your destination (desired Success).
3. When inspired from Within, Take Action
Ideas do not live long, if not put into action. Desire without action is only wishful thinking. When you feel stuck and helpless and cannot seem to find a way out of your problems, Connect with yourself in Silence. Silence is the language of the Universe. When you sit in silence, you tap into your inner intelligence and wisdom.
Spend few minutes trying to relax your mind and body. Ask yourself, want needs to be done in this given situation. Wait for an answer or sign to come. If the answer doesn’t come to you immediately, after few hours ask the question again. Answers can come to you in any form – through for an inner voice, image, strong feeling or simply a thought. Once you get an answer and you have a strong nudge from within that this is what you should do, then go ahead and do it. Taking inspired action at the right time is the key to resolving problems and achieving your Goals.
