People with goals, achieve far more than those who don’t have goals and those who have written goals achieve the most of all. It’s easy to get carried away with what others feel is good for us. But if you set your own goals and take efforts to pursue them, you stay connected with your own needs and live your life with a sense of clarity, confidence and certainty that you are on the right track towards living the life you wish to live.
A study involving alumni, ten years out of Harvard University was put together to find out how many of them were achieving their goals. The study revealed 83% had “No goals” They had absolutely no set targets they were working towards. 14% had specific goals but were not written down. However, they were earning three times the income the 83% with no goals were earning. The 3% group who had specific goals also had them clearly written down to read and regularly review. They were earning 10 times the income of the 83% who had no goals.
Let us see how we can put the results of this study into practice in our own lives to achieve our Goals faster-
1. Identify your Goals
Goals give you a clear sense of direction. Once you pinpoint your destination, the subconscious mind works to maps out the journey you must take to achieve your goals and make your dreams come true.
Here’s the exact process we need to adopt-
Answer the following questions-
- What do you want to accomplish?
- What do you want to experience?
- What do you want to acquire?
- Who do you want to be?
2. Do not doubt
Take one area of your life at a time and Identify exactly what you want without worrying about how you are going to get it or whether it is ever going to be possible or not. If you reason whether something is possible or not, you may be left feeling disappointed or discouraged even before you get started.
We all know the airplane, television, computer, internet etc were not inventions which at first seemed logical, easy or possible in any way. Yet they happened and changed the course of how things are done and the way we live our lives today. This was only possible because some people went with the flow of their imagination and ideas and dared to pursue their goals without letting reasoning or limiting beliefs about what’s possible stop them.
Remember, You too are capable of achieving big things if you hold the courage to pursue your dreams.
3. Write your Goals down on paper
Once you identify your thoughts and ideas about your goals, start listing them down. These could be dreams or targets relating to your job, career, finances, health or even relationships. To keep your subconscious mind focused on what you want, read your list of goals aloud every day. Read them slowly, with a smile on your face.
4. Describe your Goals
Another step which can impress our goals more deeply into our minds is describing them. Write a clear description of how it would look, sound, and feel like if actually had these goals in your life right now. Read this description daily. This will create within you a positive emotional state and vibration that matches the one you will be in when you actually achieve your goals.
The more your current energy matches the energy and vibrational frequency of your desired goals, the faster you will find yourself attracting what you want into your life.
5. Take Action
Think of the words, “Law of Attraction”. Even the word, “Attraction” has “Action” in it. This means a goal will be nothing more than wishful thinking if you are not willing to take necessary action on it.
Close your eyes. One at a time, focus on each goal on your list. Then ask yourself, “What is one thing I could do today for the achievement of this goal?” Write down your answers and make sure to take those actions before the day ends. Let’s say you have 5 Goals, then with this exercise, You will get atleast 5 things to do daily in the day, one for each goal on your list.
6. Review your Goals
Review your Goals regularly. You can review them weekly or monthly. Review allows you to find out whether you are on track or off track towards your Goals. It allows you to check your progress and re-evaluate how things need to be done.
Regular review will help you to better understand whether your actions steps taken during that week or month proved to be effective or not and whether you need to change the way you are currently doing things. It will help you stay focused and disciplined to go after your goals with more power and passion.
