The Covid 19 Pandemic shook the world completely. It was undoubtedly one of the most challenging times for mankind. The stress of not knowing what will happen next, health fear, job cuts, business and financial strains, uncertainty about the future kept us restless and anxious. Even though life has slowly got back to normal, yet the after effects of those challenging times have yet to leave us. Nothing can be taken for granted and the only thing that could keep you going is your own belief in yourself.
Earlier, it was believed that we humans responded to information flowing into the brain from the outside world. But today, we understand, we respond to what the brain triggers, based on our own previous experiences and habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and being. Such a powerful instrument the mind is, that it can create exactly what we imagine. But ultimately we are only going to get what we expect to get.
Leaving the past behind us, we got to start afresh now and reclaim our power, enthusiasm and passion to live our best life!
Here are 5 Steps to help you change your life-
1. Take full responsibility for your life
There is only one person responsible for the quality of the life you live today. That person is you. The person who reflects back at you in the mirror is the very person controlling your life.
To start afresh, do this one thing different today than you have probably done in all your yesterdays and that is – Commit to taking 100% responsibility for every aspect of your life. Decide to make changes, one step at a time. Once you start doing this consciously, you will realize how much easier it is to get what you want by taking control of your thoughts, feelings and actions. Successful people take full responsibility for their life – for their thoughts, dreams, imagination and actions. They don’t waste their time and energy blaming and complaining about what’s not working. They evaluate their experiences and decide what they need to do different. They are ready to face the uncomfortable, to go outside their comfort zone and take risks in order to create the life they want to live.
If you take a closer look at most of the things that you often complain about you will realize you can change your responses to almost all of them and ensure that the outcomes you experience in your life are as positive as possible. In reality, any kind of change or improvement you want is not about other people, things, or events. It’s about YOU and your deeper feelings sitting inside your inner child (subconscious mind) in form of memories. If you take responsibility for your needs and limiting feelings and replace them with feelings of love and gratitude, this change will soon reflect in your outer reality.
For example, if the thought is, “my family never appreciates me, say,
” From today, I take complete responsibility for the feelings I have for my family, while I want them to appreciate me more, I will also work on releasing any negative feelings I am holding for them, I will pour more love and appreciation into my interactions with them.” Go back to this thought every few times in the day to change your feelings and thus your results.
2. Take good care of yourself to overcome Stress
When you are feeling pressured and overburdened, you may not be able to function as well as you want to. You are only as good as your energy and mood. Taking care of yourself might be the last thing in your mind. After all, there’s so much to be done in life and the clock is continuously ticking. How can you justify thinking a thought, spending any time, or even investing your energy on yourself when there’s limited time and so many other tasks you need to do?
But the fact is, if you want to start afresh and be able to do anything well, be it a personal or professional responsibility, you have to take better care of yourself so that you feel good and perform better. Otherwise, you won’t have the power, ability, energy or motivation to achieve your goals or overcome your challenges.
Stress is not something that has to be taken casually. When you feel stressed or particularly anxious, immediately try to replace your stress response with a relaxation response and actively focus on relieving the tension from your mind and body. A simple way to do that is to sit in silence wherever you are and start taking a few deep breaths. if possible, go for a walk, affirm some positive words, take a shower, do yoga or some mindful stretching.
Make self care rituals a part of your daily routine. Be kind to yourself. Listen to your own heart and feelings. Especially when you feel overwhelmed don’t try to rush into things. Slow down and allow your mind and body to relax. Like a good friend, provide some comfort to your own self by encouraging yourself at all times. Treat yourself as though you are someone worthy of love respect and forgiveness.
3. Keep your eyes on your Goals
What happened in the past probably had to, to take you to a bigger and better path meant for your greater good. Today is a new day. Why not choose to make it the first of the best days of your life?
Decide what all you want to achieve. While thinking about what you want to have and experience, don’t let others thoughts about what happened or other’s opinions about is possible and what is not possible bother you in any way. Remind yourself why you want to achieve your goals and why they are so important to you. It is said, a dream or a goal is the very expression of your power to achieve it. You wouldn’t be allowed to have the dream if you did not have the power to attract it. Your desire itself comes from your inner strength and ability to manifest it. All you got to do is allow your energy to come into alignment with your goal. Then you will be driven from within and attract it at the right time in the right manner into your life.
Once you have identified all that you want and why you want to have it, put it all down on paper. Read your Goals daily. Every morning, spend 15 minutes thinking about what action steps you can take today to get closer to your goals. This will help you plan out how you are going to get to your destination (goals). Contemplating on your goals daily will impress your subconscious mind with their energy, making you start believing in their possibility to come about in your life. It will also bring you many new ideas to make appropriate choices and take right action steps attract your goals faster.
4. Beak free from Negative thoughts
Living in the past is damaging to your future and makes it harder for you to do your best and even enjoy the present. Observe your words: are you frequently using “should have,” “but” and “I can’t” statements?
“I should have taken that offer, But I am not good enough, I can’t do it all by my own!” Words like these weaken your spirit and even create anxiety and fear. Talk yourself through a negative thought by pausing and reminding yourself, “this is not what you want to experience.” Replace negative words with positive statements that describe how you want to feel and what you want to attract. If you keep doing this, you will develop more self belief and feel empowered to finally be able to let go of the past.
Repeat to yourself for few minutes daily,
I am willing to let go of everything that does not serve me.
I deserve success.
I embrace positivity.
I radiate joy, love and peace.
5. Stay Determined and Disciplined
The same infinite intelligence that runs this vast universe is within you. You are a powerful being, gifted with a mind that can make even the impossible, possible.
However if you want to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals, you got to Persist. Persist then you are sure to Win. Never Give Up. You can heal anything if you believe in yourself and recognize the greatness that exists in you. The Universe always says a YES to everything you say and feel. If you think, you will be well, you will certainly get Well. If you think you will be successful and you expect to make it, you will certainly make it. Stay Positive about your future, then nothing will be impossible.
At the end of the day, Reflect on how you spent your day. This will give you better understanding about what you have been thinking, feeling and doing. Take few minutes to think about how you can improve what you are currently doing. Is there something you can do better? Is there something that could add more value to your day? This exercise will allow you to make necessary changes where-ever required and to spend your day with more clarity and purpose. You will also worry less about what others are doing as you will be more focused on your own self growth and improvement.
