Every once in a while, we find ourselves in a bad mood. Maybe home help did not turn up, you got a flat tire on the way to work, you experienced unusual delay and traffic on way to work, you faced a rejection in a relationship, something good you wanted slipped out of your hands and so on. Whatever was the cause, You need to change your mood so that you put an end to this negative cycle and chain of events that may follow. Because as per the law of vibration, one feeling leads to another similar feeling. So chances are if we don’t try to consciously do something to feel better, our current vibration will further bring more disappointments and frustrations in the day!
There are a lot of strategies a person can use to change their mood and even their outlook on life over the long term, however let’s look at some easy yet powerful ways to quickly change our mood and feel better in few minutes itself.
1. Smile
Studies have shown that putting on a Smile – even if it is not very heartfelt – can lead to an almost immediate flood of endorphins. This endorphin release is actually triggered by the movement of muscles in your face, meaning that smiling carries this benefit even when you don’t feel it. Endorphins released by smiling improve your overall happiness and sense of wellbeing, thereby helping reduce stress.
You can also take a small mirror and look at yourself, into your own eyes smilingly. As you hold the mirror, you may think of some pleasant experiences and happy moments you have experienced in your life. Do this for couple of minutes. You will certainly start feeling better and more positive.
2. Meditate
Meditation and Silent sitting can help alter our state of mind and make us feel more in control of our situations and life. The short-term benefits of meditation are just as beneficial as the long-term benefits of meditation. If you are feeling overwhelmed or troubled, take a couple minutes to meditate and sit in silence. Stay away from your phone and any noise or distractions. Take a few deep-breaths and mentally give yourself the command, “Relax”. Even just a few minutes of this can serve as sort of a mental reset button, reducing stress, calming worry and anger, and leaving you feeling better much better than before.
3. Create a Positive statement
There is great power in using Positive words and statements. They are a proven technique to improve our mood, reduce stress, and boost our confidence. How do they help? Our subconscious mind tends to believe what we repeatedly tell it. That is why we should stop talking about things we don’t want or like because the more we talk about them, the more the subconscious tends to bring them in our life. This is because the subconscious cannot analyse, reason or even reject any thoughts.
Thankfully, the reverse is also true, and positive words when spoken can have a wonderful effect to shift our mood. To lift your mood, create a statement that will uplift and inspire you, then spend a minute repeating it to yourself. For example you may use a statement like, “Everything is going to work out for my good” or “I deserve all good things and the Universe is orchestrating to bring them in my life.”
4. Get Some Sunlight
Clinical studies have shown that people who get more Sunlight exposure during the day sleep better at night, are more alert and productive, and are also less likely to suffer from conditions such as depression. Sunlight can be very beneficial for a quick mood boost. If the weather and situation permits it, step outside. Take a few breaths of fresh air, and soak up some sunlight. It shouldn’t take long before you begin to notice the positive benefits.
If this is not possible, simply try to sit in a corner of your home where get some good sunlight and fresh air. You can even drink some water charged with energy and light of the sun. For this, you can place for an hour every morning, a Glass container in that area of your home where you get good sunlight. Preferably keep a blue glass bottle or container since the colour blue is considered to be a great antiseptic in Ayurveda that helps boost our energy and is beneficial for overall wellbeing.
