The New year is almost here. We all hope the coming year brings us peace, happiness, good healthand success in all that we desire. But before we step into the coming year, let us prepare ourselves to step out of this current year with a smile on our faces and gratitude in our hearts. The way you end this year will set a platform /foundation for the coming year. So let us ensure we bid goodbye to 2021 with positive thoughts and feelings and get ready to make newer, fresher beginnings in 2022.
Here are 3 powerul thoughts and rituals you can adopt:-
1. Cherish the good times you experienced
Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what we have received- both big and small. Being grateful helps us look beyond our ego selves, into the goodness that exists around us. It helps us connect to something larger than themselves as individuals — whether to other people, nature, even Universal or divine power.
Look back at all the wonderful things and moments you experienced in this year that is coming to an end. Make a list of all the things you are thankful for, that made you feel special and happy. Appreciate all the people who supported you in any way and brightened your life. If you do this at the end of every year, you will realize how this gratitude list gets bigger and better each year. The practice of giving heartfelt thanks is the practice of true gratitude. As you recall the good moments, repeat with all your heart, “I am so blessed and grateful for this experience.” Not only will it leave you feeling happier, you will also see the power of gratitude in action through the transformation it will bring in every area of your life in the coming year. That is the power of this exercise. As you reflect on the good that happened, you attract more good into your life. You also begin to value things in the present moment rather than when you no longer have them.
2. Value the lessons you learnt
The year ending is a good time to look back at some important lessons you learnt. This is extremely important to get you ready to welcome the new year in a more positive and healthy way. Even the most difficult life challenges always come with some benefit—you just have to look deeply to find them. There is a silver lining in every situation. This practice is about opening your mind to see the good coming out of your challenging situations.
For example, you may have had a health issue this year and that may have been very challenging and stressful for you and your family. However try to identify what good it did to you and others in the process. How did it transform you as a person? What did it teach you?. How are you looking and feeling today about yourself, your body, your family and work?. Write down all the lessons you learnt from this situation one by one. This is a very healthy year ending ritual that gives you acceptance, grace, optimism and faith to always expect the best. It trains your mind to believe that eventually everything always works out for our good and that something better and bigger is always on its way into our life. This the right attitude to welcome the new year and to bring more joy and happiness into our lives.
3. Spend some “Me Time”
May be you were so caught up with your goals, targets and fulfillment of tasks that you never really took personal time out for yourself in the year as much as you would have liked. On top of it all, mindless scrolling on social media and over use of technology may have kept us busy, over engaged, even stressed and anxious.
Before this day and year ends, make some precious time for yourself. Put the phone and computer aside. Spend time in silence, either sit in meditation or go take a walk outdoors in nature. Try to listen to your own inner voice as you ask yourself some life altering and self introspective questions. How am I feeling? How do I want to feel? What really makes me happy? What are my major priorities? How do I want the coming year to be like? What major action steps would I like to take in the coming year? What are the promises or commitments I would like to make to yourself for my own personal growth and spiritual journey? This “Me time” will be a healing time, helping you connect with your own true self and inner power. You will come out of this practice feeling lighter and clearer, with more positivity and strong will to make the coming year the best year of your life.
